A Season to be Proud of

Although the Blue Jays lost the World Series in a heartbreaking fashion, they truly had a season to be proud of. Here are some reasons for this, in no particular order:

1) They finished last in 2024.
2) They had a slow start to the season. (They were only 2 games above .500 after the first 60 games of the season.)
3) They won in a very competitive division with the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox, who also made the playoffs.
4) Their payroll was much smaller than the Dodgers.
5) They won a gut-wrenching Game 7 against Seattle with some George Springer magic. (He hit a 3-run homer down 3-1 in the seventh.)
6) They were leading in Game 7 of the World Series going into the ninth inning.
7) They were tied in the bottom of the ninth inning in Game 7 of the World Series at home.  They had the bases loaded with only one out.  So they were just 90 feet from the championship and would have won with a sacrifice fly.

Overall, I don’t think there is a team who can claim that they are closer to winning the World Series in any particular year than the Blue Jays. Lastly, let us not forget that they are:

THE AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS FOR 2025.
